black triangleProcoralan (ivabradine hydrochloride) – Cardiovascular

Procoralan

Licensed indication1:
Symptomatic treatment of chronic stable angina pectoris in coronary artery disease patients with normal sinus rhythm. Procoralan is indicated:

  • in patients unable to tolerate or with a contraindication to the use of beta-blockers
  • or in combination with beta-blockers in patients inadequately controlled with an optimal beta-blocker dose and whose heart rate is >60 bpm.

By selectively reducing heart rate, Procoralan increases coronary filling time and oxygen supply therefore reducing myocardial ischaemia2-4.

Procoralan anti-ischaemic efficacy has been shown in monotherapy and in combination with beta-blockers5-6:

  • In monotherapy, Procoralan 7.5mg bd decreases angina attacks by 70% vs baseline5.
  • In combination with beta-blockers, Procoralan improves exercise capacity in comparison with beta-blockers alone6.
